Cody Pomeranz is a speechwriter with more than a decade of experience helping political, business, and nonprofit leaders shape and share their ideas with the world. Most recently, he served in the Biden Administration as Director of Speechwriting at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining HHS, he was the head speechwriter at the Democratic National Committee and the Center for American Progress. He previously worked on the speechwriting teams at the White House and the U.S. Department of Justice. During the 2024 presidential election, he served as speechwriter to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and wrote for the 2024 Democratic National Convention Writers’ Room in Chicago. He has also written and consulted for various non-profits, campaigns, CEOs, and celebrities, including Academy Award-winning actors, Olympic athletes, Saturday Night Live comedians, and Broadway stars.

Outside of speechwriting, Cody is a stand-up comedian and storyteller who has performed at the Kennedy Center, DC Improv, the Moth, and Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC. In 2019, he was named one of Washington, DC’s “Top Shelf” Performers of the Year by Story District and won a DC Improv Pun Championship. As a student at Yale University, he was a three-time selection for the school’s Last Comic Standing competition, gave a TED Talk on “How Chess Can Revolutionize Learning,” and hosted a weekly video interview show called “Everybody Has a Story,” where he interviewed special guests like Stephen Colbert, Arianna Huffington, U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and more.
